When Heather realized she didn't live in a world with unicorns and intergalactic space travel (that we know of!), she did the next best thing. She got a B.S. in Film/Television and headed to LA to work in the professional world of make believe. She critiqued new scripts, scouted available book rights, and shepherded new writing talent for Gunn Films/Disney Studios for four years. Back on the east coast, she realized real characters can be just as incredible as fictional ones. She has worked in unscripted/documentary television for the past 7 years in Washington D.C. 

Heather has now melded her desire to write YA Sci-Fi and Fantasy with her experience identifying and writing for target audiences. Her first novel REBELLION: A Tri-Galactic Academy Novel is a thrilling ride with relatable, yet uniquely extraordinary characters.

About REBELLION:

When Elan, 16, is accepted into the most exclusive Space Academy in the Three Galaxies, he is thrilled to get off his dusty home planet and out from under the shadow of his seven imposing older brothers. Though schooling is not everything Elan dreamed, he makes the best of it, trying to befriend a reclusive hacker, an uptight military brat and dazzling cadet with a secret. But when his family is arrested for treason and sentenced to death, Elan must choose between his newfound freedom or using his newly acquired skills and friends to save his family. Soon, getting expelled will be the least of his worries.

REBELLION combines the comradery of Sarah Rees Brennan’s In Other Lands and the Sci-Fi action of Rhoda Belleza’s Empress of a Thousand Skies against the backdrop of a wondrous, unlimited universe. At 93,000 words, REBELLION is Heather’s first novel. However, the antics of Elan and friends at the Academy offer a platform for many more adventures.
